Thursday

Thursdays consist of Read-A-Loud, workbooks, poetry, art appreciation and geography. We use the books by Gladys S. Blizzard for art appreciation but our curriculum calls for anything we can get our hands on, especially local art. She even encourages us to take field trips to watch potters, weavers, glass blowers (that one's easy). Geography is rather simple. For example, last week they learned we live on the earth, in North America, USA, LA, Lafayette and then our street address. While this sounds so easy, they have yet to remember any of it except our street. When I ask them what city they live in? LA!
